    DIVERSE BACKUP INTERNET

Starlink Failover & Automatic Backup WAN Installation

Keep phones, payments, and cloud applications reachable when the primary circuit drops. We survey the site, install Starlink, connect it to a compatible multi-WAN network edge, and prove the cutover before an outage tests it for you.

    What Starlink failover actually is

Starlink becomes a second internet path that is physically different from the local fiber or coax feeding your building. A compatible firewall, router, or SD-WAN edge monitors the primary path and can move selected traffic to Starlink when that path fails.

    The practical design

    • Primary fiber, cable, or fixed wireless connection
    • Secure Starlink mount with a clear sky view
    • Compatible multi-WAN firewall, router, or SD-WAN edge
    • Traffic policy for critical systems
    • Tested cutover and documented handoff

How we install and test backup WAN

    1. Survey

Confirm sky view, mount, cable path, primary circuit, network edge, and the applications that must survive.

    2. Mount

Secure and aim the dish, weather-seal the entry, route and label the cable, and validate the satellite path.

    3. Multi-WAN

Land the backup connection at compatible network equipment and apply the approved failover policy.

    4. Test cutover

Take the primary path down, test critical traffic, restore service, and document the result.

    Who needs automatic internet failover?

    Retail and restaurants

Protect payments, online ordering, inventory, and voice during a carrier outage.

    Clinics and healthcare

Keep scheduling, hosted records, phones, and essential cloud access reachable.

    Offices and call teams

Preserve voice, VPN, and cloud applications when the primary WAN fails.

    Warehouses and logistics

Keep scanners, shipping stations, cameras, and yard operations connected.

    Construction and field sites

Use Starlink as the active connection now and retain it as backup when wired service arrives.

    Multi-site organizations

Apply one tested installation and failover standard across every location.

Installer and configurator—not a router vendor

We work with compatible customer, MSP, or provider equipment in the agreed scope. We do not require a specific router brand, represent Starlink, or invent monthly plan pricing.

    Starlink failover questions

    What is Starlink failover?+

Starlink failover uses a Starlink connection as a secondary WAN path behind a compatible firewall, router, or SD-WAN edge. When the primary fiber, cable, or fixed-wireless circuit fails, the network moves approved traffic to the satellite path.

    Is failover automatic?+

It can be. We configure compatible multi-WAN equipment to monitor the primary circuit and switch traffic according to the agreed policy, then test the cutover. InstallPros is an independent installer and configurator, not a router vendor.

Can Starlink back up dedicated fiber?+

Yes. It is a useful diverse path because it does not rely on the same local fiber route. We connect it behind your network edge and prioritize critical traffic such as phones, payments, VPN access, and cloud applications.

Will every device stay online during failover?+

That depends on available backup capacity and your policy. Many businesses prioritize essential systems and restrict guest Wi-Fi or large transfers during an outage. The survey identifies critical applications so the cutover is configured intentionally.

How do you test a backup WAN installation?+

After installation, we validate the Starlink path, disconnect or disable the primary WAN, observe cutover timing, test critical applications, restore the primary, and document the result. A backup that has never been tested is only an assumption.

Do you provide the router or monthly Starlink plan?+

InstallPros installs and configures the physical and network components in the approved scope. We do not require a specific router vendor, and Starlink hardware and service plans are purchased separately from Starlink. We do not invent or publish provider plan prices.

Can you deploy Starlink failover across multiple locations?+

Yes. We can standardize the mount, cable path, network handoff, failover policy, test script, and closeout documentation across branches, clinics, retail locations, warehouses, or temporary sites.

How long does a Starlink failover installation take?+

Most ready single-site installs are completed in one visit. Timing depends on roof access, cable distance, equipment readiness, landlord approval, and whether the existing firewall supports the required multi-WAN behavior.

    Who needs backup internet?+

Organizations that cannot stop taking payments, calls, appointments, orders, or cloud transactions during a wired outage are strong candidates. It is also valuable at sites with one physical carrier path or slow repair times.
